" Floral Gardens & Special Techniques"

(above photos show just a sampling of the beads to be demo'd or which will you make during this class)

Intermediate class. You must have experience on an oxy/propane torch to take this class

In this workshop, Leah will increase your skill level and expand your knowledge of beadmaking. Some of the techniques that will be covered will include floral and cased canes, surface decorations, feathering, several different types of latticino canes and clear casing. There will be an emphasis placed on design, color blending, and precise application of surface decorations with a focus on florals, perfecting your bead shapes and refining ends.

Leah’s style of teaching balances demonstration with one on one attention. Throughout the workshop, students will be assisted with their individual needs.

Leah Fairbanks has been creating glass beads since 1992, and began teaching classes in 1993. She continues to teach workshops in the United States and abroad and her work is exhibited Nationally and Internationally. Her work has been featured in Ornament, Bead & Button, Lapidary Journal, Glass Art and Bead Unique magazines as well as numerous books. She draws from nature for inspiration and best know for her distinctive representational floral, berries and bonsai tree beads.

Leah lives in Ashland, Oregon with her husband Derek Lusk, a lapidary artist and prospector of gem stones, and her six year old daughter Tara Arabella. Leah finds that Ashland is a perfect place to gather inspiration for her work. You can view more of her work at www.leahfairbanks.com
